Golden Point ?

Started by: GOLDEN BEAR (6569)

After watching two games on Thursday & Friday , in which both matches finished the normal 80 minutes level. So we got to this absolute ridiculous
" Golden Point Rule " I have never in all my days of watching Rugby League witnessed such Nonsense , Why can't both teams share the proceeds ie 1 point each , to go on and play an extra 5 min s each half if needed, is ludicrous it's just not sporting . I know myself the Wigan Warriors got a get out of jail card on Thursday , then again last night Saints after umpteen drop goal attempts managed a win , I hope by bring this up i wont be labelled a spoil sport .because i'm not... I just believe it's utterly unjust ,unfair , to ask these athletes to summon up extra energy after putting everything into the full 80 mins .I'm sorry i just think it's not the right and just thing to do .. I thought that Hull KR and Leeds should have had one point each . OK it might come across has very exciting the SKY TV VIEWER , but for me it's a NO-NO . I eagerly await some response on this topic . SIMILAR the decision's to play a club over 3 times is another archaic blunder . We have 12 Teams in the Super League ,yet we end up instead of playing 22 games ie 11 home 11 away , we have some stupid rule were they have to play an extra 5 games, i know they have a "Magic Week-end "But here again i believe the R.L HAVE boobed yet again ,and i know a lot of speckies look forward to a week-end away day ,but i am dead sure there could be another alternative i again believe it's unfair just because your successful your asked to play a team over and above the regular . There you have my gripe dig in and have a go !!!!G.B.

Don’t mind the golden point rule….what I can’t understand is this 3 match rule…we’ve now played HKR twice now away but not playing them at home yet….uhh?

I am sure that all changes will have been voted through by all the Super League clubs. If they find them acceptable then that’s it.

roylew,

In the case of clubs like Huddersfield, Hull FC. Salford and Wigan who share a stadium with another club, a list of dates has to be submitted to the RFL during the close season of when their stadiums will be available to stage home games which is further complicated by special summer events taking place in towns and cities which also can prevent regular home and away fixtures like when the game was played in the winter!

As for the golden point, that should only be in knockout games!

I don't like the golden point. 1 point each is fairer although a Golden point is great if your win wins but a rotten way to lose. I also think that after 80 minutes and having to carry on risks injuries because the players are just exhausted.
